Context Regulation InFrance,thepioneerAGEClawlaysthefoundationofgoodsrecoveringbytheirproducer.SinceJanuarythe1st,2022,producersandretailersmustrecoveratleast20%oftherawmaterialtheysold,regardlessofthenatureofthematerial. Meanwhile,EuropeissettinguptheExtendedProducerResponsibility(EPR).Itisalreadyadoptedinsomememberstatesanddoesnotplacethewasteemissionresponsibilityonconsumersanymore,butonproducers.Therecoveryofarticlesattheendoftheirlifecomesfromthisnewregulationandhasalreadyproventhewastecollectionefficiencyaswellastheirsubsequentmanagement. Infact,byrecoveringmaterial,producersgettofaceitsmanagement;thisleadsthemtowardsbetterdesignandconceptionforend-of-life. Asof2025,textilewasterecoverybyproducerswillbemandatoryinEurope.   Alreadyexistingpractices Numerouspracticeshavealreadyemergedbeforeregulationevolutionandprovedthemselvesuseful. Mayitbenewbusinessmodelssuchasbuyingandresellingapps,orcitizen’sinitiativesthroughassociations,theseactionsaremoreandmoreenticingtoconsumers. Infact,recoveringconsumersgarmentsenablesthemto(re)valuetheirclothingthroughasupportiveactionand/orafinancialreturn(directorasvouchers). Somewellknownretailersalsoidentifiedthebenefitofrawmaterialrecovery.Byopeningrecoveryservices,theyactuallywidencollectionpointsandfacilitateconsumersefforts.   RecoveryandRFID Inascenarioofgarmentsandclothesrecovery,retailersneedmandatoryinformationinordertoproposearelevantmanagementofreturns.Today,thisinformationisindicatedonarticleslabels.
