主枝直立，分枝多；枝葉有毛。

對生卵形至橢圓形葉，綠色至紅紫色。

花3~8朵簇生於枝端，帶狀花瓣4枚。

蒴果卵形。

盛花期春季，夏、秋季亦零星開花。

介質用中性至微酸性排水良好的培養土或添加有機質的壤土。

避免添加石灰或種植於水泥花盆。

耐修剪，一般於開花後進行修剪整型，但夏季後勿修剪，以免剪除花芽。

繁殖使用扦插、嫁接、空中壓條法。

適合修剪整型作為色彩灌叢配植於庭院中。

對空氣污染耐受性高，也能種植於道路邊作色彩綠帶。
