WelcometothisV-rayfeatureshortdemonstration.Inthisvideo,wewilltakealookattheabilitytorenderveryhighresolutionimagestogetherwithalloftheirseparaterenderelements,alldoneontheV-RayRTGPU.V-RayRTGPUallowsforrenderingimagesregardlessoftheirresolution.Evenwhenrenderingultra-highdefinitionimagesV-Raywouldself-adjusttokeeptheGPUfullyutilizedandproducemaximumperformance.Anotheroptimizationforhighresolutionrenderingisthatalltheframebufferinformationisstoredinthecomputermemory.Thiskeepsthevideomemoryavailableforotherresources.WewillalsoutilizetheV-RayrenderelementswhichcouldbeusedforgreatercontrolincompositingTheycontaindifferentshadingcomponentssuchaslighting,reflection,GIandsoon.Whenproperlycompositedtheyreconstructtheoriginalrendering.TherenderelementsarerenderedsimultaneouslywiththerenderanddonotaddextrarendertimeThisway,forinstance,wecanseethedenoiserrenderelementupdateinrealtimeduringrenderingWecouldalsoaddsomeutilityrenderelementssuchasMultiMattewhichallowsforextractingmasksandExtraTex-foraddingacustomtexture,forexampleVRayDirtAnotherveryusefulrenderelementistheLightSelectwhichextractsthelightcontributionofapre-selectedlightsource.Thisallowsforadjustmentsoflight’sintensityandcolorinpostwithoutre-renderingtheimage.WhenusingV-RayRTGPU,alltheshadingcomponentssuchasreflection,refraction,GI,andsoonareincludedintheLightSelectrenderelement.ThisistrueinthecaseofusingBFBFasourGIengine.InfutureversionsofV-RaythiswouldbesupportedusingBFLCaswell.Let’sopenuptherendersettingsandsetthedesiredresolution.Inthisparticularcaselet’sgoforsomethingcloseto4Kresolution.Next,let’ssettheenginetypetoCUDA,sowecanrenderusingtheGPU.Wearegoingtorenderalltheseparaterenderelementsandusethemforcompositinglater.Let’ssetadestinationfolderwheretheywouldbesavedaftertherenderingisfinished.UndertheFramebufferrolloutclickontheSeparaterenderchannelscheckboxandchoosethedesireddestination.Finally,undertheRenderElementstabwecanaddalltheelementsweneed.Inthisexample,wealreadyhavesome.Let’saddacouplemore.YoucandothatbyclickingontheAddbuttonandselectingfromthelist.Let’schooseVrayLightSelect,specifyalightsource,andalsogiveitanametokeepthingsorganized.AnotherusefulrenderelementwecanaddistheVRayExtraTex.Weneedtosupplyatexturetomakeitwork.Inthisexample,wewillpluginaVRayDirttexture.Let’snameitappropriatelyandgoaheadandhittherenderbutton.Whiletherenderingisgoingonwecanswitchbetweentheseparaterenderelementsandseehoweachoneofthemprogresses.Ifwehavesetsomecolorcorrectionswithintheframebufferthatwe’dliketouselateron,wecandosobysavingthemtoaLUTfileandloadthemasneeded.Oncetherenderingprocessiscompleted,wecanloadalltheseparaterenderelementsandcompositetheminasoftwareofchoice.Inthisdemonstration,wearegoingtousePhotoshop.Thefirstthingwewilldoissettheblendingmodeofalloftherenderelementsto“Add”.Let’sleaveonlytheLightSelectones.Let’spickoneofthelightsandchangeitscolorandintensity.Next,wecanusetheMultiMatterenderelementtomaskoffcertainpartsoftheimageandmakechangesonlytotheunmaskedparts.Let’sselecteverythinginthebluechannelandmakesomechangestotheReflectionrenderelement.Wecaneasilychangethehueandsaturationofthereflectionstoachieveacertainlookandfeel.Followingthesamelogic,wecanquicklychangethecolorofthesub-surfacescatterrenderelementaswell.Lastly,let’saddacolorlookupadjustmentlayerandloadourcolorcorrectionsfilethatwehaveexportedfromtheV-RayFrameBufferearlier.Inthisvideo,wewentoverrenderingveryhighresolutionimagesontheVRayRTGPUandalsorenderingseparaterenderelementsthatcouldbeusedincompositing.Ihopeyouhavefoundthisvideousefulandhelpful.Pleasegiveusyourfeedback,comment,orshareit.Ifyou’dliketofollowalongthistutorial,pleasedownloadthescenefromthelinkprovidedinthevideo’sdescription.MakesureyoucheckoutmoreoftheV-Rayfeaturevideosandbeonthelookoutfornewones.Thankyouforwatching.WelcometothisV-rayfeatureshortdemonstration.
